Miss Abigail’s Due Date Has Now Passed!

Yesterday, June 25th, was Abigail’s due date :-)! She is now a healthy 8 pounds 9 ounces and 5 ½ weeks old. The other night, I heard some excitement, and I thought maybe Grandad, who had just come home from the hospital that day, was at the window on the side of our house. No, actually, it was Nathan, Melanie, and Abigail, making their first, brief neighborhood outing. Because of Abigail being a preemie, Nathan and Melanie have been keeping her in the house except for her doctor’s appointments. We all happily hurried outside and greeted them.

  1. Wow! How outstanding!

We give the Lord all the glory for this beautiful baby girl!

Mommy also needs praised because she has been working very hard at nursing this now 8# 9oz baby girl! I am a registered nurse. I understand how much extra care is needed for babies that are premature!

This is wonderful news – good job Melanie!

  2. It is such a joy hearing how your family is getting well and thriving! I’m glad to hear great-grandpa is doing well too. Grandparents are such a treasure to have, especially for the “little ones” in a family. God bless!

  3. Oh what a wonderful milestone. God is to faithful. I haven’t left any comments but I have been following little Abigail’s story with excitement. My son (child #4) is three months old and still loves his hands up around his face. He was in that position even in the womb. Guess some habits are there to stay. 🙂 God bless your beautiful family.

  4. what delightful pictures!! I am so glad to see them! It is wonderful that you have taken so much precaution in warding off germs by limiting the outings.

Thank you for sharing the pictures with us. I will continue to pray for baby Abigail, Melanie’s recovery and excellent progress with nursing!, and your Grandfather’s recovery.

  5. What beautiful photos! I’m excited to hear that Abigail is up to such a good weight — way to go, Melanie! I’m sure you are exhausted, but your photo shows a radiant and happy mama! Is Abigail sleeping any long periods yet? I know preemies tend to eat less (their tummies are smaller!) so sleep less because they wake up hungry. Hope all is going well in that department.

And so what did Abigail think about her first walk in the neighborhood?

  6. Oh, thanks for this delightful update! Brought tears to my eyes!! Praising and rejoicing with you all too! Abigail is beautiful and that is wonderful about her weight gain. Such a happy family! Praise the Lord!

  7. What a cute photo. Love the arms…one of my babies loved to sleep like that. She is making great strides with her weight. Blessings to you all.

  10. She is beautiful! I was just wondering the other day when her due date was. I couldn’t remember how early she was.

I am glad all is well and she is gaining weight. What a joy!

    Have a blessed day!

  11. Oh, Abigail is just so beautiful! So glad to hear she is gaining weight so well too! Melanie and Nathan, you look great as well. Hopefully a bit more rested now. 🙂

  12. What a wonderful outing for you! My sister in law recently had a preemie as well…”Andrew James” and he just went home from the hospital! She also had to leave without him and I kept thinking about you!
My third child, Marci, loved to have her hands up too, but she would accidently grab her hair and when she moved her arms, she would pull it! She would scream and pull harder!! It’s funny now but it made me feel so sorry for her when she was tiny!!
    Have a wonderful weekend!
