BabyMax1.1 Little Miss Max

It is late Sunday evening, roughly 24 hours after our little girl was born. We haven’t had much sleep, but we’ve had quite the day! First things first, Baby is doing great. I’ll keep referring to her as Baby as we haven’t settled on a name. I’m frequently impressed in Scripture with the significance God puts on names. I haven’t sensed his definitive leading on this child’s name so it’s still a matter of prayer.

Baby arrived at 34 and half weeks – shocking us by showing up as a girl (and weighing 6 pounds 4 ounces). We had wanted to be surprised but felt it was a little boy; we were very wrong. While not our desire, she was delivered by a semi-urgent c/section. Both Melanie and Baby came through it great. Due to her gestational age when she arrived, she will be in care of the NICU for a little while longer. We don’t know whether that means one week, two, or maybe more. However, even though she’s in the NICU, she’s strong, healthy, and alert! She has no IV’s connected, just a small feeding tube to help her with some nutrients while she’s learning to nurse.

I’ll try and post a more lengthy update in a day or two – Lord willing with a name!

Thank you for your prayer support. There were some challenging times during her birth, but God carried us through. We had desired God’s clear leading, and it was clear. Why He chose this route I don’t know, but there was no mistaking it!

  15. We have had some suprises ourselves.
Out of our 5 children we never found out the gender and we guessed correctly twice and incorrectly three times.

#1 was a girl – we were correct!
#2 was a boy – we were correct!
#3 was a boy – we were incorrect!
#4 was a girl – I was incorrect, everyone else was correct!
#5 was a girl – we were incorrect, my mom was the only one correct!

We love not knowing the gender and throughly ENJOY the surprise God has given us each time.

    With Much Love,
    The M Family

  29. Our little girl Brontë was born at 34 1/2 weeks, and spent right at 2 weeks in the NICU while she gained a little weight and regulated her own body temperature. They had her on feeding tubes most of that time, and an IV for the first several days. We’re very glad to hear that you and yours are doing well, and pray that the Lord sees fit to send her home very soon.

  30. Congratulations!!! She is so beautiful!!!! Wow — it’s so amazing that she’s really, truly HERE! πŸ™‚ We are rejoicing with you and can’t wait to hear her name! πŸ™‚ Thank you for sharing so many details with us thus far — it’s been such a blessing to be on this journey with you and to help encourage your hearts and uphold your arms when weak –God is so faithful and I love how He joins the body of Christ together, and how all our hearts can be strengthened in His love and faithfulness! We will now be praying for much rest and recovery for Melanie and for your precious little Miss Max to continue to be strong and healthy and learn how to nurse well, so she can come home! What an exciting day that will be, huh?! πŸ™‚

  31. Wow, what an answer to prayer a healthy mom and a healthy baby girl!! Praise be to God. I am so happy I checked your blog today…….Janet

  32. She’s absolutely gorgeous!Congratulations! I am thrilled for you. What an emotional roller coaster you’ve been on. I remember wondering all during my pregnancy after our son died if I hoped the new baby was a boy or girl. We’ve had 2 little girls since then and I know God knows exactly what He’s doing when He chooses the gender of our children. I was surprised at how emotional it was to hold my new baby. It brought back A LOT of grief and emotions from our son’s birth. Same hospital, same nurse, same midwife, etc. Much like what you guys have probably gone through. What a wonderful blessing your daughter is to you! You have a unique perspective and know who precious and valuable each moment is. God will use that. We are continuing to pray for all of you.
    Blessings in Jesus!

  33. Oh, Lord, our Lord- how majestic is your name in all the earth! Praise you for the birth of this beautiful baby girl!
