Thank you for every one’s prayers. Melanie was released from the hospital this afternoon. There has been no progression in labor and no internal changes. All this is an answer to prayer.
We’re amazed at how quickly life brings changes. Yesterday at 9:00 am we were enjoying the final moments of seeing our baby on what was to be the last ultra-sound of this pregnancy. At 9:05 the ultra-sound tech was telling us she was very concerned, a dr was coming in echoing those same sentiments, and a few moments later Melanie was being helped into a wheel-chair to be admitted to the hospital. This is of course a very simplified overview as there was alot of questions of the medical staff mixed with tears as we sought the Lord’s will with the new information/events. Our world so changed in 10 minutes. But, God is in control and wasn’t surprised by any of it. I kept thinking that I was crying out to Him who calmed the winds and waves, and that the winds and waves that were buffeting us still understood His voice and knew Who was in charge.
Specific prayer requests:
- Baby Max (just the nickname, we have no idea on the gender) needs to stay put. Goal is 34 weeks, we’re at 26.
- Dilation needs to not increase (we’re praying that it will decrease)
- Contractions need to be minimal and not show up very often
- We need to know when things do pick up when to go to the hospital. We have no desire to have a preemie delivered by paramedics. 🙂
Praises:
- That Melanie got to come home.
- That we were able to seek counsel of a number of key health-care providers that affirmed that Melanie going home was not taking unnecessary risks.
- That baby is very active and looked good on the ultra-sound
Nathan, Melanie, and Baby Max
Nathan and Melanie,
Praise the Lord! I am so pleased to hear that you are at home. The kids will be thrilled to hear this update! We must have checked the blog hundreds of times.
We will add your prayer requests to our prayer times. I am assuming Melanie will have to stay put to keep baby inside as long as possible. Our first child (who is now almost 15!) tried to arrive at this same time as baby Max. I layed in bed until 36 weeks, and the day after I was allowed up, she came, healthy and big enough to bring home! I can still remember vividly the fear we dealt with during that time. We will pray for peace for you all.
Stephanie (for us all -Blake, Kayla, Grant, Addie Mae, Chad and baby -due in 10 days)
The Lord be praised!!! Keeping you in my prayers.
Praising, crying and prayers here.
God was not surprised at this turn of events.
Because He lives.

Still praying and praising with you!!!
So happy to hear that Melanie was able to go home-it’s good to be out of the hospital environment if possible. We will be praying that baby will stay in the womb for at least another 8 weeks.
May YHWH give you peace (and patience) while you wait.
So glad that everything is settled down now. Is Melanie going on bedrest? Probably. My good friend just finished 16 weeks of bedrest, and delivered a lovely daughter at 36 weeks. Will keep you all in our prayers!
what wonderful news! We will continue to be diligent in prayer. -Tara
We are praying here. Just a question – will Melanie be on bed rest then at home until the 34 week mark – Lord willing that is?
Just curious. We will keep all of this in our prayers and in the Lord’s hands.
Blessings,
Martie
Praising the Lord for this update. We will continue to pray for Melanie and the baby’s and your witness.

When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? Psalm 8:3,4
May you rest knowing you are in the thoughts and heart of our wonderful Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
In Christ,
Kara
Praise the Lord for the good report! The children will be so happy and we will continue praying for you all! Will Melanie have to be on bedrest? I’ll have to get the chitlins going on writing her some letters to read 🙂 They always enjoy writing and praying for all of you. We will be leaving to get ready for services tonight in a few minutes and we’ll have our church here praying for you all as well.
Keep trusting and resting in Jesus!
love and prayers,
Jaynee (for all of us!)
Keeping you all in prayer
Praise God!!! We’ll keep praying, of course.
Praise God! We’ll keep praying…
Praise God for the praises!!! Will continue to pray as well.. May the Lord be your source of strength and fill you with peace. Praying and praying for baby Maxwell and Melanie and Nathan.
Thank you so much for the update! You have all been on my heart and mind and I have been praying for you! So good to hear that Melanie was able to come home and that your precious little one is doing so well! Although, I must confess I had to laugh at ‘Baby Max’ — if it’s a girl, I’m thinking you should changeit to “Maxine”! lol 🙂 lol
I will continue to pray for you, as you go through the rest of this week, and remembering Susannah’s birth and life. And, as you now walk through the rest of this pregnancy with ‘Baby Max’. I pray the rest of this pregnancy will be full of joy and peace.
May the Lord release to you His perfect peace which passes all understanding!
What a wonderful praise report! Thank you for taking the time for the update…God bless you all.
Thank you for the update. Our family will continue to keep all of you in our prayers. May God give you an amazing peace at this stressful time. The Y family
Nathan and Melanie,
Thankful to hear Melanie has been released from the hospital. Will continue to be in prayer.
I don’t know if you use any herbs, but red raspberry tea is known to help quiet inappropriate premature contractions. Perhaps it would help.
Our family in New Jersey is lifting you up in prayer. blessings and love

This is wonderful to hear, and I am praising with you…I would like to share with Melanie that the doctors with my first son (7 years ago) told me I would have similar difficulties and not be able to carry him to full term. I was devestated to hear this. Then God gave me the scripture every good and perfect gift comes from Him. I knew from that moment on that God was in control of the outcome regardless of what anyone else had to say. Not only did I carry my son to full term, BUT he was exactly two weeks late. I now have a strong healthy 6 1/2 year old little boy (and 3 younger boys as well ALL arriving after their due dates) Our God is sovereign. I hope this story has encouraged you. I am praying for you, your husband and your precious little one. I praying blessings on your womb Melanie. God bless you and your family, and may he strengthen you and your husband and baby during this time.
please know i to am praying for you all.
Oh prayers for you in this time! Praying that baby stays put and for God’s grace and peace to be upon you in this time, especially as you remember the events last year and mourn the loss of your sweet daughter. I pray that this baby will stay in the womb for at least another 8 weeks. Know that we are lifting you up in prayer here!
We will be praying for Nathan, Melanie, and baby. We serve a mighty God!
Hi Nathan & Melanie 🙂
Just catching up here and so glad to read that all is well so far! I am praying with you and for you. Blessings! Q
Just have to add that I am also 26 weeks along as of yesterday 😉
Nathan and Melanie,
I remember reading in the post when you first announced your pregnancy that God had already showed you that you were going to have to trust in Him throughout this pregnancy. Isn’t it a good God that gives you a “warning”, so to speak, that trials may come? He has shown you this to prepare you and see you through to a healthy baby. That’s how I believe. May God continue to bless you. Valerie
