Per Request, Page 2 of Scriptural Reasons Why No TV

Erika said she wanted to see the second page of Scriptural reasons that a brother sent to me. Since she asked I figured others would like to see them as well.

Additional Reasons Why We Do Not Have a TV

Psalm 26:4-6 – I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers. I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked. I will wash mine hands in innocency: so will I compass thine altar, O LORD.

  1. Here’s another one. Saw this on the back of a hooded sweatshirt tonight and decided to make it a potential memory verse.

    Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
    (1Pe 2:11 KJVR)

    The second verse is the reason 🙂

    Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

  2. Dear Maxwell Family,

    Approximately one month ago, my wife and I were convicted by the Holy Spirit who used your monthly email, website, and blog.

    When we were exposed to the joy of homeschooling four years ago, we immediately began to homeschool. This year, I led our family astray. I enrolled into an online college program to begin the completion of my degree. I have always been anxious that I needed to complete my degree, although the Lord has provided an income for our family in the ministry. I knew that I was seeking the approval of man in doing so because God impressed it upon me with the parable of the unjust steward and following verses. I disobeyed, my wife went to work to assist in paying for the college tuition, and we enrolled my children in public school. One month later, they were beginning to exhibit behaviors contrary to the Bible and we were beginning to incur a great financial debt. Then we realized that all of our time was filled with stress surrounding school (both college and the children) and we were not “getting ahead” financially with my wife working.

    After I read your blog about the television, the Holy Spirit pricked my heart. I cried. I asked for God’s forgiveness and my wife’s forgiveness. I immediately withdrew from college and my children were brought back home. We cleaned house from all of the things that crept into our life. The television is out. The blue jeans are out of the girls closets again. We eliminated two televisions and ten 55-gallon trash bags of sin. Thank you for your testimony and faithfulness and for giving me the courage to take back the ground the enemy had taken. Our God is sufficient for everything we need. You are evidence of this along with the heroes of the faith found in Scripture and in history. We serve a great God and we long to live for Him.
